Preppy / patterns

This dress is decidely summery but I persist in appropriating it for winter.  I wore this to work on a day with meeting a client who I'd worked with before.  For those meetings, I tend to get a bit more creative with my professional outfits.  The layering here was a bit high maintenance (button down kept getting a bit unkempt underneath the strapless dress) but I liked it anyway.  

 Hair was a dutch braid on both sides, wrapped into a side bun.

Sweater Dress

 Another pic from early December, for a weekend day hanging out and running errands.

I love the boots and the nordic patterned winter tights.  This year,  I've been on a hunt for more winter dresses, which are really hard to find.  All summer, there is nothing but perfect, a-line sun dresses which nip and the waist and flow out in the most form flattering fashion (like my yellow, orange or green dress).  However, come winter and it seems that all dresses are sweater dresses, which cling to every little bit of everything.

With losing a bit of weight, I've tried incorporating a few of these into my wardrobe.  I found this one at a thrift store.  I like the shorter length and the pleats.  Honestly, I feel better about wearing this in real life than I do when I see it in pictures.  The pictures make me think it didn't look so good after all.  Hopefully, confidence and adorable boots make this still a good choice in real life.

 Hair was second-day straightened and in a simply ponytail.  Thanks to my mom for taking these pictures!

Sparkly Cardigan

 This one is from the December archives on my camera, pre-snow.  I wore this to work on a day with a client meeting.

Black cardigan has SPARKLES!  But subtle enough to wear all the time.  Hair is two braids pinned to the top of my head.

Green dress

I wore this over the weekend to run errands and go out to a bar or two in the evening. This was also the last shot of the Christmas tree before it came down for the year.  I'm telling myself that no more pretty christmas decorations means spring will be here soon.  Right?

My winter outfit

Yesterday I just caught my outdoor outfit as we went into town for dinner.  Bright red coat, hood, billowy infinite scarf.  The hood is my favorite thing about this coat, it is so warm and fluffy.  And I don't have to wear a hat!

Neon

 Thank you to anyone who is still coming by after my inadvertant month long hiatus.  I have been finding it challenging to take pics with the sun going down so early, plus various holiday activities.  But, I'm keen to start taking outfit pictures and posting again!

I got this sweater a few years ago online, and it looked SO BRIGHT when I received it.  However, now the neon thing is totally on trend!  Just call me a visionary.

Happy New year to all!  Pretty sure 2013 is going to be awesome.
