Yellow dress at the lake

One of the nice things about having a distinct sense of style is that people seem more likely to give you clothes.  That's what happened with this dress.  A friend stopped wearing it and thought it would suit me, and now it's one of my favorites.  

 I wore this dress to a day out at the lake.

What Jane would wear to a fictional picnic

 This summery outfit made me feel like I should be in Miami beach.  Whenever I wear something like this where all the pieces feel so suited to one another, it makes me feel like an American Girl Doll.  Like I should have my "sporty outfit" or "birthday outfit" with the requisite accessories.  These clothes would accompany the book "Jane goes to a memorial day picnic".

Coral and Sage

 I wore this coral and green combo to work and for an evening walk with the husband.

 These sunglasses feature a lot from day to day, even if I don't wear them in my outfit photos.  They're a bit wacky but I looooove them.

Scarves and stripes

The stripes, boatneck and scarf make me feel very parisian.  I wore this outfit for a day at work.  I had an unanticipated guest meeting and still felt put together and stylish.

 The scarf came from a tote bag my mom bought at Target.

Trying out the mermaid braid

 Nothing so sad as wearing tights in June, but we had a cold couple of days.  I had a meeting with a guest today so this is me wearing my event planner pants.

 I learned this mermaid braid from A Cup of Jo.

Braids and Knee Socks

I kinda dig knee socks because they feel quite sexy while actually showing very little leg.  The visible knee feels provocative, like the way the characters in Downton Abby react to ankles.

This dress came from a Monsoon in England.  I love the cut (empire waists and a-lines are everything I look for in clothing) an the flower pattern.

 I did my hair based on the milkmaid braid tutorial from A Beautiful Mess.

Yellow Dress

I wore this outfit to enjoy beer and bratwurst with some friends.  The yellow dress is an awesome j.crew dress, found second hand at a massive thrift store in Brooklyn.

Dress / Skirt

 Every time someone compliments this dress, I feel thrilled to get to tell them that it's actually a skirt.  A thrift store skirt!  I tucked the elastic under and added a belt.  It's one of my favorites for it's color and being so versatile.

I wore this outfit to my parents house for a post birthday dinner.  The scarf came attached to a Target tote bag my mom bought.

First step

This is my first step into fashion blogging, where I'll post photos of my outfits each day.  This was an easy outfit - breezy dress, yellow belt and milkmaid braids.
